WorkCover Hub
For GPs & health professionals

A dedicated WorkCover & CTP referral partner. It's all we do.

WorkCover Hub is a specialist provider that exclusively manages WorkCover and CTP cases. We exist so that GPs and health professionals have somewhere reliable to send patients who need claims-specific care — without it becoming your admin problem.

Why GPs across NSW are referring WorkCover and CTP cases to us

If you're a GP or health professional in NSW, chances are you've had a patient walk in with a workplace injury or car accident claim. And chances are, it's taken more of your time than it should have.

WorkCover and CTP cases are different from standard consults. They come with insurer correspondence, Certificates of Capacity, treatment approval requests, return-to-work plans, Independent Medical Examinations, and a level of documentation that goes well beyond what most GPs have time — or training — for.

That's why more and more GPs are choosing to refer these patients to a dedicated provider. Not because they can't manage the case, but because there's a better option for everyone involved.

The challenge with managing WorkCover and CTP in general practice

WorkCover and CTP cases sit in a grey zone for most practices. Here's what we hear from GPs regularly:

“I don't have time to deal with the insurer back-and-forth.” Every Certificate of Capacity renewal, every request for further information — it adds up. For a standard GP consult, you're often doing 30 minutes of work for 10 minutes of reimbursement.

“I'm not sure I'm completing the paperwork correctly.” A vague or incomplete Certificate of Capacity is one of the most common reasons claims get delayed or disputed. Insurers look for specific clinical language that most GPs haven't been trained to provide.

“The patient needs more than I can coordinate from here.” WorkCover and CTP patients often need a mix of physiotherapy, psychology, specialist referrals, and workplace rehabilitation — all with specific insurer approvals.

None of this is a reflection of your capability as a clinician. It's a reflection of a system that's complicated, admin-heavy, and not designed for general practice to manage efficiently.

What WorkCover Hub actually does

When you refer a patient to us, we take over the claims-related care. Your patient is seen by professionals who work with WorkCover and CTP cases every single day.

The patient gets access to a coordinated care team that understands the system. You get your consult time back.

How this benefits your patient

This isn't just about making things easier for you. It genuinely results in better outcomes for the patient.

Stronger documentation = stronger claim

Our doctors know exactly what language is required — mechanism of injury, specific functional limitations, clear capacity assessments — because it’s all they do. That means fewer disputes, fewer delays, and a smoother process for your patient.

Faster access to treatment

Treatment requests are submitted correctly the first time. Patients aren’t waiting weeks for approval because of a missing form or an incorrectly coded request. They get the care they need — when they need it.

End-to-end care coordination

We coordinate the entire pathway — physio, psychology, workplace rehab, legal. The patient doesn’t have to figure out who to see next or how to get insurer approval.

No cost to the patient

All services are covered under the relevant WorkCover or CTP compensation scheme. There’s no out-of-pocket cost and no Medicare card required. The insurer pays directly.

Why a specialist WorkCover provider vs. managing it in-house

This isn't about whether you're capable. It comes down to three things:

1. Volume builds expertise

A GP might see a handful of WorkCover cases a year. Our doctors see them every day. That volume means they know what gets approved and what gets knocked back. That expertise translates directly into better outcomes.

2. The admin burden is real

Every renewal, every insurer phone call, every Section 78 notice — it all takes time that could be spent with other patients. When you refer to us, that admin disappears from your practice entirely.

3. The patient gets a dedicated team, not a solo GP

With us, there's a team behind the patient. A doctor handles clinical care, our admin team handles the insurer, and our network handles allied health and legal referrals.

Important: You remain the patient's GP. Referring to WorkCover Hub doesn't mean you lose the patient. We only manage the claims-related care. All non-injury general care stays with you.

How the referral process works

We've kept this as simple as possible. No forms to fill out on your end beyond the basics.

1

Send us the referral

Email referrals@workcoverhub.com.au or use our online referral form. All we need is the patient’s name, contact details, a brief injury summary, and claim number if available.

2

We contact the patient

Our team reaches out to the patient directly, explains the process, and books them in with the appropriate provider. No chasing required from your end.

3

Patient receives specialist care

The patient is assessed by a WorkCover or CTP-experienced doctor. Certificates of Capacity are completed correctly, treatment plans are set up, and allied health referrals are coordinated.

4

We handle the ongoing management

Insurer correspondence, treatment approvals, Certificate renewals, return-to-work coordination — it’s all managed by our team. You’re kept informed with updates and discharge summaries as needed.

When to refer a patient to WorkCover Hub

Not every WorkCover or CTP case needs to be referred. But here are the situations where a referral makes sense:

New injury with an active claimThe patient has just been injured and needs their initial assessment, Certificate of Capacity, and care pathway set up from day one.

Complex or disputed claimsThe insurer is pushing back, the claim has been denied, or the case involves multiple injuries or providers.

You don’t have time for the adminIf the admin burden is taking time away from your other patients, referring is the right call.

The patient needs coordinated allied healthPhysio, psychology, workplace rehab, legal support. If the patient needs more than just a GP, we can coordinate the full pathway.

You’re unsure about the documentationIf you’re not confident in the Certificate of Capacity requirements or the insurer forms, we’ll take it from here.

The patient can also self-refer. If they contact us directly, we can manage their case without needing a formal GP referral — though we always prefer to work collaboratively with the referring practice.
